Serving the Gospel in 4 easy steps |
1. God's Position |
God loves us. He is pure, holy, compassion, and gracious.
He desires to have fellowship with us.
a. God loves man and wants to have fellowship with him.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16
b. God's perfection means that He cannot lower His standard without violating His character.
"Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Matthew 5:48
|
2. Man's Condition |
All men are sinful by nature and sin has separated us from God.
The consequence of sin is eternal death.
a. All people have sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard.
" For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Rom 3:23
b. God, in His justice, requires the penalty of spiritual death
(eternal separation from God).
"For the wages of sin is death . . .." Rom 6:2
|
3. God's Provision |
Jesus Christ, being God, paid the penalty for man's sins by dying on the cross as his substitute. He made it possible for man to have a personal relationship with God by offering His perfection in exchange for man's sin.
"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Cor 5:21
"For Christ also died for sins once and for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God." I Peter 3:1
|
4. Man's Decision |
All anyone must do is place their trust in Christ and His death alone as sufficient payment for sin. This satisfies God's requirement of perfection and establishes His desired eternal relationship with man.
"But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God. even to those who believe in His name." John 1:12
"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
