Bethesda Cathedral - Boys' Brigade

We've organised what was known as "BB Care 2007" on 21 Jul 2007. It is a time where the boys brought a group of elderly from All Saints Home to the Jurong Bird Park.

The Boys' Brigade (BB) is the world's pioneer uniformed youth organisation founded in Glasgow, Scotland in 1883. The BB operates in all Commonwealth countries and in recent decades has been established in other countries. For example, in Indonesia , Thailand , Macau , the Philippines and Cambodia . Further afield, the BB had started in Mongolia and plans are underway to restart in Swatow where a strong BB battalion flourished in the early 1900s. The BB also has kindred organisations in the United States , Australia , New Zealand , Caribbean Islands , African continent and the Scandinavian countries.

In Singapore, the BB has the distinguished patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Republic. It is endorsed by the Ministry of Education as one of the Uniformed Youth Organisations in schools. There are more than 7000 Officers and Boys in 115 BB Companies, each of which is attached to a school and co-sponsored by a church.

The Object of The Boys' Brigade shall be the advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian Manliness.

Bethesda Cathedral is the sponsoring church for the 20th Singapore Company operating in Ping Yi Secondary School since 2000. The company holds its weekly meeting every Saturday morning 9 to 12 pm in the school. The officers of the company are mainly the volunteers from among the members of Bethesda Cathedral. The company provides a balanced program to help youths to grow Physically, Mentally, Socially and Spiritually through wholesome and meaningful activities to develop all rounded youth and fulfill the BB objective.

Typical weekly program will include Singing, Christian Education, drill, modular courses and games. The program is enhanced by highlights such as camps, outings, competitions in Bible quiz and adventure quest. The Boys' Brigade is a unique ministry that enables the member of BC the opportunity to serve the Boys and families in the community.
